History
A complex context, urgent challenges
Mental health remains a largely neglected issue in Cameroon, where stigma, lack of infrastructure and a shortage of professionals complicate access to care.
This context, aggravated by socio-economic pressures, calls for inclusive and appropriate solutions to restore hope and dignity to the most vulnerable.
Persistent stigmatization
Mental or psychological disorders are still marginalized in many communities.
Lack of infrastructure
Entire regions remain devoid of specialized mental health centers.
Insufficient professionals
A shortage of psychiatrists and psychologists to meet needs.
Families on their own
Relatives lack the support and guidance they need to manage complex situations.
Socio-economic challenges
Unemployment, poverty and isolation exacerbate mental health problems.
